In 1991, the Venice bag, with its iconic shape and symbolic golden clasp, left an indelible impression on a whole generation. Two decades on, BONIA’s designers returned to our archives to update the same timeless design with a fresh look.
Today, we’ve returned once more to the Venice design and elevated an icon to create a new level of luxury. Crafted exclusively for the BONIA x SCHA Collection, our latest bag is a true marvel to behold. With every inch of its iconic facade encrusted with Swarovski crystals, the limited-edition Crystal Venice Petite sparkles like no other.
With a rich history of leather-making since 1974, BONIA’s artisans continue to push the boundaries of craftsmanship and design. This video, the second in our ‘Making of a Masterpiece’ series, takes a closer look into the intricate craft of the brand’s most lustrous creation – the Crystal Venice. Inspired by Italian columns, the Crystal Venice features a kaleidoscope of Swarovski crystals in a delicate blend of decadence and art.
It may be petite but putting together this luxurious design is no simple process. For the most recent edition of our ‘Making of a Masterpiece’ series, we captured the creation of the Crystal Venice, giving a detailed insight into the days-long, painstaking process.
Once the premium leather has been processed, cut and thinned, it takes our skilled artisans an entire three and a half days to assemble a single bag. In a test of patience and skill for our artisans, it takes two days alone to individually arrange and set each of the Swarovski crystals that form the gorgeous striped motif.
Despite their miniature size, each bag is composed of a total of 57 pieces. The oval panels make up the structure of the bag and the inner compartment is lined with suede fabric. The finishing touches? A limited edition engraved hardware plate and our signature Neu B padlock complete the design. Lastly, the ultra-luxe gold chain shoulder strap allows for a practical yet opulent carry.
